Good Cause Giveaway – RESULTS!

In late February 2019, we debuted what we hope will be an annual “Good Cause Giveaway”. The giveaway came on the heels of the 2018 holiday season and was inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King’s quote, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’” Our objective was to give an event away in our space to a deserving group, person, or cause. We leveraged our family, friends, and followers to get the message out, and we had an overwhelmingly inspiring and humbling response.

We had two nominations for the giveaway. The first came from a spouse of a local Police Sergeant. She recommended that we honor the local first responders and their families—the folks that keep us safe, and their support systems—with a First Responder Gala. The second nomination came from a family friend who, in May of 2018, became guardians for a deceased infant they had never met and never saw breathe: Sarah Elizabeth Grace Powell. The Powell family recommended that we host a scholastic event dedicated to educating the public on Safe Haven Baby Boxes. Please watch the story of Sarah Elizabeth Grace here.

After watching that video, you can’t help but be equally heartbroken and moved. How could we choose between such awesome causes? And why would we want to?  So by golly, we aren’t going to!!

So, in the end, we had a tie for the winners of our 2019 Good Cause Giveaway: the First Responder Gala (which will be held this fall) and the educational event in memory of sweet baby Sarah Elizabeth Grace for Safe Haven Baby Boxes (date to be determined).

Both events have already received support from local corporate and individual donors. If you or your organization would like to be a part of the Good Cause Giveaways this year, please let us know!
